My son likes crackers and cheese with his lunch, instead of sandwiches. (In addition to veggies. I hear our kids have the healthiest lunches in the school.)
Hubby, who makes the lunches, doesn’t think it’s suitable five days a week, but is okay once or twice. We get the low-salt stoned wheat thins.
Today during the usual lunch-packing discussion, I compared the nutrition information and ingredients on the packages for the bread and the crackers. Identical nutritional values. The crackers have one additional additive in the oil, I suspect it’s a preservative, but they’re missing a different preservative. The rest of the ingredients are real foods.
So, I’m very glad I checked. Less arguing. More eating. Teacher will be happy, too, that he doesn’t skip lunch.
